Progresso, Tues. March 4th

Progresso, Mexico is but a 10 min drive from our 'home' away from home. I honestly don't remember if the price for parking 2 years ago was the same or only $1. Whatever the price, I love the consequence they impose if you don't pay.

Practically the first thing you see upon entering the shopping street is this sign advising of dental prices and other services.
The first obligatory stop is the very first store, take a sharp turn to your right and there is the bar where custom demands that you purchase your favourite libation. In this case there is no choice other than a frozen margarita which is served up in a styrofoam cup complete with napkin to wrap around & soak up the excess as well as a long bendy straw. Your drink goes everywhere with you while you browse in this or any other store.

These cars are leaving Mexico. Photo is taken from the Mexican side of the International Bridge, but the same line-up continues well into the town. It's definitely not worth taking your car across the border. And besides it's only a 5 min walk across the Rio Grande. I was 'caught' taking pictures from the bridge in Laredo and 'invited' to delete them despite the lack on any signs to that effect. So no pictures of the Rio which is not all that pretty anyway - muddy brown and not very impressive at this location.

Some of the colourful displays - various ceramic fruit and pots strung together with jute.

Then of course the wonderful pottery in a variety of shapes and sizes.

If you look closely you can see Al sporting his new leather hat. I bought a blue one 2 years ago. I expect he will wear his more often than I do. I keep saying that I need a horse to complete my outfit.
At the end of the day we joined some Canadians (John & Mariette) from London, ON for drinks. Their name and location was passed on to us by the Avery's, home neighbours who are presently in Arizona. (No photos as I don't publish pictures of other people or their vehicles.) You will have to imagine the laughter when Leila's tail swept the low table holding Al's wine glass which of course was not empty. As a consequence, he is off to the laundromat this morning. Well OK there was another reason - Gypsy left a grass upchuck on two of the trailer mats. Right now the dogs are patiently waiting outside in the pens for their morning run alongside the bike which I ride. Today they may be a little more energetic; yesterday apparently Gypsy discovered the cache of dog biscuits 'carefully' hidden behind the swivel chair. When discovered, there were only 5 left! Al 'punished' them by alloting only half their normal breakfast rations. These puppies sure keep us busy.
