Thurs. March 5th - Pepe's on the Rio Grande

Today we lunched at Pepe's on the Rio Grande River. Our friend, Brian, who has been wintering here for many years suggested we go. He claims that on one of his visits, he actually saw what he describes as a 'floater', a Mexican crossing over.
The place is about a 40 min drive from our trailer site and just outside of Mission, Texas.

It's not a very impressive place but it is well situated. You'll notice the thatched roof. The dining area is open to the elements on 2.5 sides.

This is the underside of the thatched roof.

One of a few cactii on the shore of the Rio.

Here's Al waiting for his beer.

Just before we left the live entertainment started. I was not unhappy to leave as continued exposure to the bass would have driven me nuts.

The river going south

More cactii

Of course the Rio Grande River is the border between Mexico and the States, so it wasn't a surprise to see a border patrol boat go by.
