Lazy day in Ocala RV site - NOT

Wed. Feb.13

What happened to the tornado? Certainly we never got even a hint of one. OK, now to the important report: temperature hovering 75-80F, high humidity, overcast with the occasional bit of sun. Still at the campsite so no gas report and hopefully none will be required today. Al is off doing the laundry.
Dog walk this morning elicited the following info. Beverly Beach allows dogs on the beach with leash (as do others in the area). But the juicy bit is that no one seems to care about the leashes, so we’ll be going there, but just for the day. Apparently the Daytona race is this weekend and normal camping rates have tripled in celebatory greed. This from a would-be camper who refuses to pay the $125+ per night.
Have determined that the only consistent way to send emails is via the Sympatico server site adding to the organizational complexities of staying in touch. I will prevail. No applause necessary.
Given the inconsistent weather – rain, no rain we are staying on site = quiet reading etc. Round about 3pm after a successful wash & dry (well, OK Al lost one sock), we decide a trip to the local grocery store is in order, a WinDixie I think, one of many that offer ‘great’ discounts to card carrying members. That would be us thanks to oldest son who passed on his cache.
In order to protect the guilty my lips must be sealed, well sort of, in describing the following event: groceries loaded into back of Ford along with 2 bottles of wine, one carefully placed on the floor, the other not so on Leila’s bed … pungent smell of wine pervades the vehicle. We stop to assess the situation, find culprit and return to store to demand a replacement; no problem. Driving back to the campsite is however, a wondrous occasion – wondering what the story should be if we’re stopped by police. A plan of attack is quickly formulated: I and dogs are left off at the pet exercise area along with wine-sodden carpets, beds etc. whereupon I put the dog bathtubs to new use. A Rubbermaid tub no less; I resolve to look it up on the Internet for possible purchase. Might have to re-do the laundry room at home to accommodate the size, but what a wonderful set up, complete with ramp and sides, perfect for hanging water-sodden carpets. Here endeth another adventure in escaping the cold.
